The international cooperation landscape is undergoing significant change. Shifting geopolitical alignments, new regional and interregional partnerships, changing development priorities and a growing emphasis on strategic autonomy are reshaping how countries and regions engage with one another.

Higher education and research are an important part of this transformation. Universities, research institutions and knowledge networks are increasingly expected to contribute not only to sustainable development, but also to economic transformation, technological sovereignty, innovation and resilience.

Bringing together speakers from Brazil, China, Southeast Asia and Africa, this webinar will explore how different countries and regions understand the emerging cooperation landscape, the priorities shaping their international engagement, the role of higher education and research within these strategies, and how Europe is perceived as a partner.

Rather than approaching the South as a single space or perspective, the discussion will highlight the distinct priorities, interests and approaches of different Souths, as well as the new relationships developing between them.
